On Bonn

Khara is a Christchurch local, although originally from Ireland, Khara was recruited to New Zealand by a handsome kiwi lad, a story as old as time. As a child, Khara grew up beside a woolen mills operated by her family, and was exposed to fabric and textiles from a young age.

Before On Bonn, Khara was a scientist, holding an MSc in Consevation Biology, knowledge which she applied in numerous scientific and governement roles. After stepping away from her career when she became a mother, she decided to shift her focus towards a creative pursuit that would allow her to fulfil a dream of starting her own business. She kept her passion for the environement in the ethos behind On Bonn, using only ethical inputs, like sustainable and organic fabrics. When not sewing, Khara loves to garden, forage, paint, draw, and read.
